Physically smaller than I expected but wow this is fun! Screen clear and bright. Build quality is great. Buttons, controls, sound, all well designed and function well.
Brilliant service - very quick, did what it said on the tin. Very impressed.
The ADM version still most powerful (in fully nomad mode) but
I bought this intel version fot the thundrbold port: currently using with an egpu(2070s), i can run everithing at max setting
Great handheld emulator. Runs smooth and is easy to set up.
The case is nice and much needed. Thanks
I’ve had this for a couple weeks now and it’s been great. I was a complete beginner with emulators but I followed a YouTube and had this up and running really easy. Overall quality is top notch, it feels amazing to play. I currently have lots of GBA, NES, N64 and PSP games loaded and they run flawlessly. It’s a perfect blend between retro and modern and I will be carrying this everywhere I go now.
When purchasing a handheld I gave myself a small budget of £100-£150. I wanted something that had good build quality, something that didn't have the usual plastic feel. Emulation wise I have spent countless hours in the past configuring emulators and controllers so decided I'm over this, I wanted something I could just pick up and play. I wanted the ability to emulate mostly 16bit consoles and anything above this was a bonus. The RG351MP has achieved this above and beyond, I am extremely pleased with this handheld.
Emulation wise I have been playing Mega drive and SNES mostly, with the quality screen and aspect ratio these looks awesome. I have also loaded some PS1 and PSP games, PS1 works flawlessly but as to be expected PSP is hit and miss. I did have great results playing the PSP Need For Speed games though, these had no lag at all. I have also tested Atari Lynx, game boy original, advance and colour all seem to work great. I have a large collection of N64 which I'm yet to test.
If you have a huge ROM collection like myself I recommend purchasing a larger SD card, I went for a 256GB but I have seen people use 500GB. I also purchased a new SD card for the OS and loaded on the latest version. I also recommend downloading the latest software from ambelec web site and installing this. I was unable to get it to upgrade so i installed a fresh copy instead. The new software comes an improved UI as well as new features such as cloud saves. Another amazing feature on this device is the ability to run other engines such as anything that runs on ken Silverman's build engine (duke nukem 3d, blood, redneck rampage etc.) as well as other engines like Doom, quake and diablo. I hope they continue to build on this feature.
Just wanted to also add I ordered the device and it arrived within 3 days.
I ordered a case too, I recommend leaving it outside to air for a bit as it has that chemical smell you normally get from new mattresses. I left it outside for a few hours and there is no smell after.
All this for just over £100..... amazing! I have already recommended this to a number of friends.
the box is super good.... !
The RP2+ is one of the best budget handhelds I have used and I have a few, It plays everything I throw at it, from Spectrum to Dreamcast, along with some Saturn and plenty of PSX and Arcade, setup is not turn on and off you go there is a little more to it, but there are plenty of videos online to get you going, I was up and running in an hour or so, the touch screen is so perfect and helpful too, since then I have tweaked it myself getting everything how I want it, I would suggest buying a 128gb MicroSD card I went with a U3 class 10 A2 and its perfect, fits all my games on no problems along with some movies and other stuff.
All in all its a a great handheld console, runs android so you get access to google play and everything else, decent battery though I am only getting about 5 hours from it, but plugging it into something is simple enough and there is always a usb-c charger somewhere, I hook my Bluetooth headphones up to it and the sound is great even from the built in speakers when they get used, oh don't forget to grab a case for it too as they seem to be pretty hard to find.
As for DroiX, they were great, super nice and very helpful customer support keeping me up to date every step of the way with my order, delivery was really fast once they had stock, hopefully they will be getting the Ayn Loki's in stock so I can grab one of them too.
Its fun grab one while you can.
This is my first retro handheld. I have previously set up retropie on raspberry pi4. In comparison this was a little easier to set up. You still need to know what you are doing and it takes an investment of time to get everything up and running. So far I've been able to get most older consoles up and running such as SNES and Megadrive etc.. without any problems or tweaking. Still working on playstation, N64 and Saturn. Dreamcast working perfectly. There is a great set up guide on YouTube which really helped with a lot of things I couldn't work out myself. Im still working through the tutorials and setting things up and tweaking settings. Overall for the price it's the best value for what it can do compared to other handhelds in this price range. What it can do for the price is pretty amazing really. I wanted to try an entry level handheld before I committed to something more expensive like the AYN Odin Pro but to be honest I don't see me requiring anything else for some time now. Really pleased I bought this as I feel for what I wanted it to do the other handhelds on the market would have been an unnecessarily expensive purchase. I don't require it to play anything above Dreamcast/playstation so it suits my needs perfectly. Good build quality. Battery life looks good so far. Screen and picture is good for this price range. The controllers are responsive and comfortable to use. Touch screen is fit for purpose. I can't fault it at all, for my needs at least. As for Droix: item delivered as described and earlier than expected!
This is my 1st retro handheld and I haven’t been able to put it down. It’s easy to use and set up and I’ve been installing and playing games with no issues.
Initially I was concerned that this box is not a 64 BIT and would that effect The answer was no, this box is by far the best box I have had. No buffering, brilliant video and sound output and a processor that whips through installations and running of programmes. The box feels quality and since purchase I have continued to e impressed. TheCore Elect additional side bar loading OS is a nice touch. I have already recommended this box and DROIX Global to friends as reliable and well supported
I'm a console gamer, this is my first pc since the 486 days. watched the Droix tutorials to get started more or less a painless experience. now let's talk about the shipping time. placed online order Sunday night recieved my unit Wednesday afternoon... outstanding. love playing g around with this thing. thank you for the great product
I purchased this (351v) handheld as a birthday gift (Wood Look), I read a lot of reviews about the unit before I purchased this. I also purchased two additional brand named SD micro cards (FULLY Recommended, in order to install a newer better OS & Games, with the better quality sd cards). I did have an issue with one of the provided SD cards that game with the RG 351v (as they're unbranded and fairly rubbish), but! however this was quickly reified by DroiX and a replacement was sent out, which worked fine. So, I made a backup of the OS & Games provided straight away (getting free games was a bonus). However! with my new good SD cards I purchased myself, I downloaded the "351Elec" OS and used the games provided from the other SD card. After that! It was like a whole new quality system, the RG351v has excellent build quality, the controls are excellent, the sound is also excellent from the 1x mono speaker. It's one of the best "Retro" handhelds, I have every tried (and I've tested about 7 others) and this is the best... the screen quality is top notch, the buttons, joystick and d-pad are excellent (the feel as good, as top company controllers - XBOX, NDS, MegaDrive controllers etc.). I like the unit so much, I'm purchasing one for myself and I've also bought 2x SD Cards (32gb for the OS and 128GB for the Games - SANDISK), so I have the same setup, when my own arrives with the "351Elec" OS installed. I'll keep the provided OS & Games cards, as a backup. I 100% recommend this unit to anyone who loves RETRO gaming, its excellent for MegaDrive, SNES, MAME Arcade, Atari, NeoGeo Games, Dreamcast, PS1 and N64. With Dreamcast/PS1/N64, they didn't run great on the provided OS. However! that was just the OLD OS, but! with 351Elec OS installed and one/two minor scaling option changes (really simple to do, there is 2min YouTube Videos on this) it runs perfectly, like a dream.. Most importantly is, that this unit won't cost you a fortune and is easy to hold in your hand (ideal for travel on the train, plane or in your hotel from on holidays).
This thing does everything I need it to do. It's even smaller than I imagined. Shipping from UK was fast and hassle free. I'm extremely pleased with this unit.
