The headline change is the move to Intel’s Core 3 N350, while the rest of the machine remains focused on the same goal: a pocket-sized Windows laptop that can work as a travel computer, fieldwork terminal, compact tablet and dockable desktop companion.

That matters because the original GPD MicroPC 2 already stood out among Compact laptops and Small-sized laptops by combining a 7-inch Full HD touchscreen, a rotatable 2-in-1 display, 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, M.2 SSD storage and unusually strong I/O. The N350 update keeps that proven formula, but gives buyers a newer Intel N-series processor with a slightly higher CPU turbo frequency and faster listed graphics frequency than the earlier N300.

Intel Core 3 N350 vs Core i3-N300: what has changed?

Intel’s Core 3 N350 is a newer N-series mobile processor from the Twin Lake family. According to Intel, it uses Intel 7 lithography, has 8 cores and 8 threads, carries 6MB of Intel Smart Cache, and reaches up to 3.90GHz under turbo conditions.

The GPD MicroPC 2 is great for quick editing of documents

The earlier Core i3-N300 is also an Intel 7 mobile N-series chip with 8 cores, 8 threads and 6MB of Intel Smart Cache. Intel lists the N350 with Intel Graphics, 32 execution units and up to 1.35GHz graphics dynamic frequency, while the N300 is listed with Intel UHD Graphics, 32 execution units and up to 1.25GHz. It is not a reason to expect a completely different laptop, but it is a useful 2026 update for buyers who want the latest available GPD MicroPC 2 configuration rather than last year’s processor options.

We will make our own benchmark comparisons for performance differences once we have the N350 model.

Why the N350 matters inside a device this small

The GPD MicroPC 2 is not trying to replace a 16-inch performance notebook. Its strength is giving you a complete Windows computer in a device that fits where normal Lightweight laptops often still feel too large.

In that context, the N350 makes sense. Intel’s 8-core, 8-thread N-series design gives the MicroPC 2 enough headroom for web work, Microsoft Office, remote admin tools, coding tasks, field reporting, dashboards, light media work and multi-window desktop use, while staying within a low-power mobile processor class.

The GPD MicroPC 2 keyboard and touchpad

The higher listed 3.90GHz turbo frequency may help with bursty tasks such as opening apps, loading browser-heavy pages and moving through Windows 11 quickly. The higher 1.35GHz graphics frequency may also help in GPU-assisted desktop tasks and light graphics workloads, though users should still treat this as integrated low-power graphics, not a dedicated gaming GPU.

For buyers comparing Laptops for students, portable work machines and Laptops for business, that balance is the appeal. The GPD MicroPC 2 N350 is small enough to travel daily, but still runs standard Windows software rather than locking you into a mobile-only app ecosystem.

The proven MicroPC 2 design remains largely unchanged

The rest of the GPD MicroPC 2 formula remains familiar, which is good news. Our earlier GPD MicroPC 2 N300 review measured the device at around 6.73 x 4.33 x 0.91 inches, or 17.1 x 11.0 x 2.3 cm, with a weight of about 500g.

The 7-inch LTPS touchscreen runs at 1920×1080 and 60Hz, with a 16:9 aspect ratio, 314 PPI and 500 nits brightness listed in the previous DROIX review. The display can rotate and fold back, turning the MicroPC 2 from a mini laptop into a Windows tablet-style device for reading, form-filling, notes, presentation checks or quick work in tight spaces.

This flexibility is what separates the MicroPC 2 from many Ultra-portable notebooks. It can sit on a desk like a small laptop, fold into tablet mode for handheld use, or connect to a larger monitor when you need a more conventional setup.

RAM, storage and ports still make it a serious work tool

The GPD MicroPC 2 continues to use 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, which is important for real-world Windows multitasking. For storage, DROIX’s existing product and review material describe M.2 2280 NVMe SSD configurations, with 512GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB options previously available.

Connectivity remains one of the MicroPC 2’s biggest advantages over many small laptops. The earlier model includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with charging and video support, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, microSD and a 2.5Gbps RJ45 Ethernet port.

That Ethernet port is a major reason the MicroPC line still matters to IT, networking, field service and industrial users. Many modern laptops need dongles for wired networking, while the MicroPC 2 builds that practical connection into a device you can keep in a small bag or jacket pocket.

How the N350 update fits the wider MicroPC 2 story

Our original GPD MicroPC 2 review found a major performance leap over the first-generation MicroPC, especially when comparing the newer N250 and N300 models against the older Intel Celeron N4120 platform. The review also highlighted the 2-in-1 design, strong I/O, cool operation, practical keyboard layout and the ability to use the device as a docked desktop-style setup.

GPD MicroPC 2 in tablet mode

The N350 update does not change that buying logic. Students, engineers, technicians, business travellers and anyone who needs a real PC in a tiny footprint should all find the design compelling.

Transform the GPD MicroPC 2 into a desktop setup supporting up to 4 external monitors

It is less ideal if your daily work depends on long-form typing without an external keyboard, heavy video editing, modern AAA gaming or large-screen multitasking while travelling. The N350 has the same 8-core, 8-thread layout and 6MB cache, but Intel lists a slightly higher 3.90GHz turbo frequency and a higher 1.35GHz graphics dynamic frequency.

Is the Intel Core 3 N350 faster than the Intel Core i3-N300?

The Intel Core 3 N350 is not universally faster than the Core i3-N300 in every public benchmark. Intel’s specifications give the N350 higher CPU turbo and graphics frequency figures.

Is the GPD MicroPC 2 N350 good for business travel?

The GPD MicroPC 2 N350 is well suited to business travel if you need a very small Windows PC with strong connectivity. Its 7-inch touchscreen, compact chassis, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, USB-C, USB-A and HDMI make it useful for quick work, presentations, diagnostics and hotel-room docking.

Can the GPD MicroPC 2 N350 replace a full laptop?

The GPD MicroPC 2 N350 can replace a full laptop for some mobile workflows, but not for everyone. It is excellent for portable admin, fieldwork, short documents, email, web tools and docked use, while long typing sessions are better with an external keyboard or a larger laptop.

Should I buy the 2026 GPD MicroPC 2 N350 model?

The 2026 GPD MicroPC 2 N350 model is the best choice if you want the newest available GPD MicroPC 2 processor option from DROIX.
