- 2020 Hardware Upgrade - Aluminium Model
- Premium Quality
- OpenDingux Firmware
- JZ4770 Dual-Core
- IPS Display - 640x480
The RG350M retro games console is an upgraded 2020 version of the best selling RG350 released in the later half of 2019. With it comes a metal alloy case, higher resolution display and a number of improvements.
The RG350M features the same JZ4770 Dual Core processor running up to 1.0Ghz with DDR2 512MB RAM. As we have seen with the RG350, it uses the OpenDingux operating system and is capable of running all of the popular retro gaming systems from the 70’s up to the 2000’s.
From here on is where the improvements have been made to the retro console. The first thing you will notice is the Aluminium Alloy casing available in Space Grey, Rose Gold and Matte Black. It gives the RG350M a real premium feel and look.
The 3.5” screen is a full IPS panel running at 640x480 resolution, an upgrade from the 320x240 found in its predecessor. The higher resolution means that retro games on older systems can be upscaled for improved visuals. And for the systems that run at higher resolutions, the visuals will not be squashed and make text easier to read for example. The display is protected by a Zero Distance OCA toughened glass cover.
The new case design on the retro games handheld brings the opportunity to improve a number of functions not found in the RG350. On the RG350M are now two external card slots supporting up to 256GB Micro SD cards. The first is for the operating system, you no longer have to open the case (voiding the warranty) in order to update to custom firmware. The second can be used for additional storage.
The location of the D-Pad and left analogue stick have changed position and are now lower profile after feedback from customers. Old gaming consoles were designed for D-Pad’s and as this is the primary function, the D-Pad can now be found above the left analogue stick for ease of use. There are four front facing game buttons, Start & Select, and four shoulder buttons. This means you can enjoy both old and new consoles with any control method.
A Li-polymer 2500 mAh rechargeable battery lasting up to 6 hours is included which should be plenty of time for playing your favourite classic games on the way to work, with plenty left over for the commute home on your retro console with games.

I have owned and still own A LOT of retro gaming handhelds My first being the GP2X back in 2005. None of them come close to this beast.
First off the build quality. It's solid. Literally. The metal casing gives it a quality feel and the buttons and joysticks are top notch. The ports for the various peripherals and charging also seem sturdy and should last some time. IF I had one gripe it would be that on my unit the rubber pads on the back were not pushed into the case properly but this was remedied with some gentle persuasion.
The software included is decent and there is plenty more available online given that it is compatible with most GCW0 software. The range of emulators is great and have not had much in the way of slow down on any systems. GBA especially runs great. PSX stuff runs well although with the included emulator I have seen several issues with memory card usage. I'm sure this will be improved with a different emulator or an update to the current one.
Open dingux works well still although it's not really changed over the years. It wold be nice to see some usability improvements to the OS itself, again, I'm sure that will arrive with a custom firmware sometime in the future.
On the subject of firmware some forums state that the 350M model is compatible with regular 350 firmware, this IS NOT the case. Make sure you sue a firmware built for the 350M as it uses different screen drivers. For instance ROGUE will not run on this unit (yet).
Anyway, hope that's useful to some folks. All in all this is the single best retro emulation handheld I have owned and hope to get many hours of gaming from it.
As a huge fan of retro games and doing hours of research I came across the RG350M. Yes, you can buy the cheaper RG350, but to be honest, the difference £30 makes is well worth paying the extra. The screen resolution is much better and the newer joysticks are a delight to use. If you put a Nintendo badge on this, no one would question it, as the build quality is that good!
The customer service is superb also. We have issues with the post being damaged here in South Wales, so I messaged via Facebook chat, and was pleasantly surprised that it was no problem, and Droix would put the system in a jiffy bag for me at no extra cost. What I actually got was a parcel that was put in three padded bags for extra safety - how good is that! Talk about going above and beyond! It’s not very often you get excellent customer service, but the level of support and value for money is outstanding. Thank you very much, and I will be purchasing from you again!
Love it, great quality item and runs lovely. Cheers guys.
I'm highly impressed with this little device. Usually with these devices there's at least some part that feels cheap but everything about the RG350M is really premium! The buttons feel nice and clicky, the d-pad is feels really nice which is usually hard to get right and the device just has a good weight to it and feels great in your hands. Also really appreciate the correct placement of the analog sticks and how they are sunken a bit so they don't block you from pressing the d-pad and buttons at all. Haven't had problems running any game so far, even PS1 and CPS3 games run full speed. Really the only flaw is that I wish the L1 and R1 buttons were a bit longer on top, my fingers are long and rest on the L2/R2 buttons instead. But it's something you can easily get used to within a few hours. Delivery from Droix was also really quick! Easy 5/5 stars, I'll be using this handheld a lot in the future.
Great little handheld for retro gaming, looks good and fits in your pocket ! takes me back to the days when I owned the sega mega drive & PlayStation 1 etc, like a walk down memory lane ! Thanks droix
