GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB launch on January 11.

During the CES 2022 keynote, NVIDIA updated its GeForce RTX 30 series with GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti. However, this is not the end of NVIDIA’s updates for the amped generation, as industry sources leaked that a GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with 12 GB of GDDR6X VRAM is expected to be released as a separate product very soon.

Compared to the regular GeForce RTX 3080, which only comes with 10 GB of GDDR6X, the new 12 GB version is expected to bump up the specs list slightly. The GA102-220 GPU found in the 12 GB variant will feature 70 SMs with 8,960 CUDA, 70 RT cores, and 280 TMUs.

This is a minor improvement over the regular GA102-200 model in the 8 GB model. However, the major difference is in the memory organization. The new 12 GB model has a 384-bit memory bus that allows GDDR6X modules to reach a bandwidth of 912 GB/s while operating at a speed of 19 Gbps.

The overall TDP is also increased to 350 watts, compared to 320 watts of the regular RTX 3080 model. For more information regarding final clock speeds and pricing, we’ll have to wait for the alleged release date on January 11.
