Getting your T8/T8-S set up at first use

How is the T8-S different?

There is space to insert a 2.5in hard drive which is popular with people who like to download live broadcasts or programs for later viewing, as well as more apps like games. You can also store media files on it that you may already have on other devices. Currently this has been tested up to a capacity of 1TB, but theoretically can go higher. We shall update this as we are able to test larger configurations. Previously, storage like this could be done with with external USB drives (all our other devices support external USB), but now there is one less device on the TV stand and several less cables!

The ability to dual boot with Open Elec means you can run Kodi without the Android operating system in the background. This gives you the ability to boot stSght into Kodi and reduce the load on the hardware which provides slightly faster results.

DroidShare is a new service available only on the T8-S that enables you to control your DroiX® using your phone; display the screen of your phone or tablet directly on the TV screen or vice versa and more.

It is very easy to install a hard drive into the DroiX® T8-S.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL USB STORAGE DEVICES BEFORE CLICKING THIS OPTION.
openELEC/Linux does not differentiate between internally connected and USB connected drives.

How to factory reset your T8

Sometimes the simplest thing to to do to solve issues with your device is to do a factory reset. This will restore the DroiX® back to the condition it was in when you took it out of the box the first time. Ideally you should only do this if instructed by a DroiX® support person, but over time you may become comfortable in knowing when you may need to do this and how to go about it.

How to fix “Kodi 4 DroiX® has been denied superuser permission” error

Kodi needs access to areas of the operating system that is normally locked safely away. If you block it from this access it cannot perform properly. If you accidentally block it, this video will show you how to grant superuser access at a later stage.

You can update your T8-S using the OTA (Over-the-air) Update application. This will install the latest version of the firmware for your device. Because it does a full update you will need to set up your wifi  again. The video below shows you how to run the OTA update.

How to use Quick Support

You may encounter an issue that you cannot solve yourself or using one of the many helpful videos on this site and YouTube. If you call our support team, they may need to “remote” into your DroiX® to help you solve the issue. To do this they use software called Quick Support. You can see what you will need to do on their request in the video below.
