They should not break your device but software could be unfinished, unoptimised or not work at all. DroiX provide no official support for custom firmwares.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Opening the RG350<\/h2>\n<p>You will need to install the custom firmware on the internal storage Micro SD Card. On the back of the device are four screws to remove, if there is a sticker you can remove or break it with the screwdriver.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2407 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"How to open RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Using a spudger or plastic card, gently work around the case to unclip it. You can now lift the case, starting from the top to the bottom. There is a battery wire attached to the bottom of the case so removing it in this direction will reduce the chance of breaking the wire.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2408 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"How to open RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The MicroSD Card is located in the top left area of the device.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2409 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/RG350-opening-device-3-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"How to open the RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There may be a sticker which you can peel off or break to remove the internal RG350 Micro SD Card. Remove the MicroSD Card.<\/p>\n<h2>Preparing the RG350 Micro SD Card<\/h2>\n<p>Insert the MicroSD Card into your PC and load the Diskgenius program. Locate your MicroSD Card in the menu and choose <strong>Delete All Partitions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-1a.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2412 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-1a-300x147.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"147\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Be 100% sure have chosen the right drive otherwise you may accidentally delete your PC hard drive for example. If you are 100% sure, click <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2413 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-2-300x72.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"72\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The MicroSD Card area shown in <em>Fig. 1<\/em> below will now show as <strong>Free<\/strong> with the available space below it. <strong>Right Click<\/strong> on this area and choose <strong>Create New Partition<\/strong> as shown in <em>Fig. 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2414 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-3-300x119.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"119\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Confirm that the Partition Type is <strong>Primary Partition<\/strong>, File System type is <strong>FAT32<\/strong> and that it is using the full capacity of storage. Once confirmed, click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2415 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-4-240x300.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"240\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Choose the <strong>Save All<\/strong> option in the top left corner of the software.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2416 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-5-300x76.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"76\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You will receive a first confirmation, followed by a second confirmation. Please ensure you have selected the right MicroSD Card and click on <strong>Yes<\/strong> for both to begin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2417 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-prepare-sdcard-6-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"How to format the RG350 Micro SD Card\" width=\"300\" height=\"189\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Micro SD Card will now be formatted, once ready the main software will show the device as FAT32 formatted and Active. You can now close the software, and remove and reinsert the MicroSD Card so Windows\u00a0 can recognise it after the changes you have just made.<\/p>\n<h2>Writing the RG350 Custom Firmware<\/h2>\n<p>Open Win32DiskImager. Double check to confirm that the drive shown is the correct drive for your MicroSD card. If it is not, click on the drive letter from the dropdown menu and choose the correct one.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-1a.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2418 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-1a-300x209.jpg\" alt=\"How to write custom firmware on RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on the <strong>blue folder<\/strong> icon<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-1b.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2425 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-1b-300x209.jpg\" alt=\"How to write custom firmware on RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Locate the <strong>RG350 custom firmware<\/strong> <em>.img<\/em> file on your PC<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2419 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-2-300x176.jpg\" alt=\"How to flash custom firmware on RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"176\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you have located it, select it and then return to the main screen.\u00a0Click on the <strong>Write<\/strong> icon to continue.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2420 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-3-300x209.jpg\" alt=\"How to flash custom firmware on RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A final confirmation will show, if you are 100% sure it is the correct drive letter for the MicroSD Card then click <strong>Yes<\/strong> to begin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2421 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/rg350-write-sdcard-4-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"How to write custom firmware on RG350\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The card will now write the <strong>RG350 custom firmware<\/strong> image you chose to your MicroSD Card. Once the process is completed, you can close the software.<\/p>\n<h2>Resizing the Micro SD Card<\/h2>\n<p>Load Diskgenius and highlight the drive. <strong>Right click<\/strong> on it and choose <strong>Resize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2492\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-2-300x221.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A new window will appear. Move your cursor to the space between the used <strong>EXT4<\/strong> partition and <strong>unallocated<\/strong> space, it will turn into a slider cursor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2493\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-3-300x238.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click and move the slider all the way to the right to allocate the free space to the <strong>EXT4<\/strong> partition<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2494\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-4-300x238.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on <strong>Start<\/strong> and then <strong>Yes<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2495\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-5-300x115.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"115\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The free space will now start to allocate to the EXT4 partition. This may take some time to complete depending on the size of the Micro SD Card.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-6.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2496\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/en-gb\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/extend-partition-6-300x238.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once it is complete your Micro SD Card is now ready to be used.<\/p>\n<h2>Putting the RG350 back together<\/h2>\n<p>You can now eject the Micro SD card from your PC and reinsert it back into the RG350.<\/p>\n<p>Gently place the back cover onto the RG350.
