We currently sell the popular Retroid Pocket 2 Plus retro gaming handheld which you may find needing to re-flash. Since we have had to do the process ourselves, we thought why not make a helpful easy-to-follow guide so that you can get it done without a headache? Since the device runs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.android.com\/versions\/pie-9-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Android 9<\/a>, it can be a slight bit more tedious to re-flash compared to ANBERNIC\u2019s retro gaming handhelds which are as simple as flashing an SD card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be able to re-flash the Retroid Pocket 2 Plus as well as to follow the guide, you will need the following<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Windows Device \u2013 You will need a device running Windows to use the SPD Factory Tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>USB C to A cable \u2013 This will be for connecting the device to your PC. Make sure to use a high-quality one, if you use one that randomly disconnects, it has a chance to do it during the re-flashing process, in turn bricking your device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/droidbox.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/s\/Purchasing\/EXvtFHAUrlpOsCDaS7sP12kBU0msaIfXFUqERDHYnNkPPQ?e=Qg5rLs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SPD Factory Tool<\/a> \u2013 This is the program we will be using to install the firmware<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Firmware \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/droidbox.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/s\/Purchasing\/EZPX4nVUP_dPrYoUmLivNXoB5w2hocMXSysCqjEiIGO4Mw?e=1hMuc7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UI2.5_20211221_user.pac<\/a>\u201d, is the firmware we will be installing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SPD Driver \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/droidbox.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/s\/Purchasing\/EcZUB3LJLhlLsMC_9xDBYxABsxvfjNAQgwPHBjm2s9Vs2g?e=z1RJp8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SPD_Driver_R4.20.4201<\/a>\u201d, this will be the driver which allows our Retroid Pocket 2 Plus to communicate with the flashing software.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/droidbox.sharepoint.com\/:u:\/s\/Purchasing\/EZd40Qd1H4VKsqKodWWNueABrdAcdUGxZmR2ouWWz6gFhw?e=lAcq0e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BMAFrame9.dll Fix<\/a> \u2013 This will only be necessary if you run into an error relating to the .dll \u201cBMAFrame9.dll\u201d when opening the \u201cFactoryDownload\u201d program we will be using.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we have gone over everything required, we will get the actual guide started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WARNING: <\/strong><em><strong>Please ensure that this guide is fully followed. If you use the wrong files, disconnect the device during the process, or do anything incorrectly you have a risk of bricking your device. DroiX is NOT responsible if you brick your device.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extract the contents of all four zip files to their respective folders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Installing Drivers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Locate the folder \u201c<strong>SPD_Driver_R4.20.4201<\/strong>\u201d and navigate to the folder which correlates with your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/windows\/windows-11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Windows<\/a> system (Windows 7, 8 or 10). Unfortunately, there is not a folder for Windows 11 however Windows 10 will work. After you navigate to the correct folder find the \u201c<strong>DriverSetup.exe<\/strong>\u201d and run it. You will be met by an installer, just press next and then finish. If it has the \u201c<strong>BMAFrame9.dll\u201d<\/strong> error then please read step 4, which resolved the issue for me. After the 4 have been run and installed, attempt to open the \u201c<strong>FactoryDownload<\/strong>\u201d program under the folder \u201c<strong>SPD Factory Tool<\/strong>\u201d. Now it should not present the error anymore and we can continue to flash the firmware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Continuing with Firmware Flashing.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Now that you have the program opened, press the \u201c<strong>Load Packet<\/strong>\u201d button with the single gear icon, go to the folder we have downloaded including everything and open the \u201c<strong>U2.5_20211221_user.pac<\/strong>\u201d file. Once the .pac file is fully loaded you will see some text on the right of all the buttons in the top left. Some red text informing you to calibrate your joysticks might be displayed in the top left. If it is not, then after you move the joystick, it will pop up.
