This saves time as you will not need to copy any of your game files back on the SD Card afterwards.<\/p>\n<h3>You will need<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>7-Zip Archive Manager &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.7-zip.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.7-zip.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The latest Custom Firmware, you can find it at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.droidboxforums.com\/forums\/bittboy-retro-gaming-handheld.145\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.droidboxforums.com\/forums\/bittboy-retro-gaming-handheld.145\/<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How to update the Custom Firmware<\/h3>\n<p>First download and install 7-Zip from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.7-zip.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.7-zip.org\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Download and unzip the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/bittboy-custom-firmware-installation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Custom Firmware<\/a>. You should have the firmware image file with the filename extension<strong> .img<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2265\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"130\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Right Click on the <strong>.img<\/strong> file<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2266 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"130\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Choose <strong>7-Zip<\/strong> from the menu then <strong>Open archive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2267 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"903\" height=\"210\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You will see a number of files. Highlight <strong>3.fat<\/strong> and Right Click on it, then choose <strong>Open<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2268\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"816\" height=\"215\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A new window will appear showing all of the files available for extraction. Highlight all folders and files except the <strong>roms<\/strong> folder as shown in the image below.<\/p>\n<p><em>Note: If you are having trouble highlighting the correct files\/folders then click the first file\/folder at the top, hold the Shift keyboard button, then click on the bottom file\/folder. Release the Shift key, then press the CTRL key and click once on the roms folder. They should all now be highlighted except the roms folder.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2270\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-5-300x113.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"113\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em>(Click image for larger version)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Insert your Bittboy Micro SD Card into your PC and cancel any prompts to Format, we do not want to do this. Navigate to the drive named <strong>main<\/strong>. You will see files\/folders similar to below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-2271\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-6-300x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"267\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em>(Click image for larger version)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now, drag and drop all the files\/folders that you highlighted on to the Micro SD Card <strong>main<\/strong> drive. You will get a prompt to overwrite files\/folders, choose <strong>Yes To All<\/strong> and it will proceed to copy over all of the files\/folders. This process may take a few minutes to complete.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2272\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/Bittboy-Update-Files-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"310\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the file copying process has completed, Right Click on the Micro SD Card and choose <strong>Eject<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can now remove the Micro SD Card, insert it back into the Bittboy and enjoy the updated firmware.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Where to buy the BittBoy v3?
