It has a variety of improvements and features including optimised emulators, a cleaner frontend and game browsing experience, optimal settings and much more. Here is our guide on how to install Spruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You will need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td>Latest Spruce Custom Firmware<\/td><td><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/tenlevels\/spruce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">https:\/\/github.com\/tenlevels\/spruce<\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>MiniTool Partition Wizard<\/td><td><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn2.minitool.com\/?p=pw&amp;e=pw-free\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">https:\/\/cdn2.minitool.com\/?p=pw&amp;e=pw-free<\/a><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download and extract the Spruce archive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Download the latest version of the spruce OS from <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/tenlevels\/spruce\/releases\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/github.com\/tenlevels\/spruce\/releases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>. It will now copy your games to the PC. Depending on the number of games you have on the card this may take some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also copy your old save and save state files. Navigate to the <strong>\/RetroArch\/.retroarch\/<\/strong> folder and copy the <strong>saves<\/strong> and <strong>states<\/strong> folders to the <strong>Saves<\/strong> folder on Spruce root.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare the new Micro SD card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend using <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn2.minitool.com\/?p=pw&amp;e=pw-free\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cdn2.minitool.com\/?p=pw&amp;e=pw-free\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MiniTool Partition Wizard<\/a> to prepare your new portable retro gaming console micro SD card. Download and install the software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Format the micro SD card<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Load the MiniTool Partition Wizard software. Insert the micro SD card into your PC. The card will now appear in MiniTool. <strong>Double<\/strong> and <strong>triple<\/strong> check that you are using the correct drive for your micro SD card for the following process!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right click on the micro SD card drive and choose <strong>Delete All Partition<\/strong>s. Next, right click on the <strong>Unallocated<\/strong> space to the right and choose <strong>Create<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Spruce-CFW-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"701\" height=\"632\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Spruce-CFW-3.png\" alt=\"Format Options\" class=\"wp-image-57879\" srcset=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Spruce-CFW-3.png 701w, https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Spruce-CFW-3-300x270.png 300w, https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Spruce-CFW-3-450x406.png 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 701px) 100vw, 701px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Format Options<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>A menu will show with some options, for the <strong>File System<\/strong> option, change this to <strong>FAT32<\/strong>, then click on <strong>OK<\/strong>. Double and triple check you have chosen the correct drive for your micro SD card. Now click on <strong>Apply<\/strong>, the software will delete the original partitions, and then format the card to <strong>FAT32<\/strong>. This may take a short while if the card is large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Copy Spruce to the micro SD card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can now copy all of the contents to your new micro SD card in one go. Navigate to the Spruce folder that you extracted and copied your games &amp; saves to. Highlight all of the files and folders by pressing <strong>CTRL+A<\/strong> and then copy the files by pressing <strong>CTRL+C<\/strong>. Next navigate to your new micro SD card and press <strong>CTRL+V<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything will now be copied to your new micro SD card in one go. This may take some time if you have a large number of games. Do not remove the micro SD card or switch off the PC during this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First boot of Spruce OS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once all of the files have been copied to the micro SD card, you can safely eject it. Again this may take some time if you have a lot of games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once completed you will now be able to use the <a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/product\/miyoo-a30\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/product\/miyoo-a30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Miyoo A30<\/a> vintage gaming handheld with Spruce OS.
