Changing your TDP on a Windows handheld gaming PC<\/a> or performance profile on and Android gaming handheld<\/a> can reduce or increase the power draw which in turn alters the performance. This can help conserve battery power for low demanding games, or squeeze a bit extra power from higher demanding games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This guide on changing the TDP for Windows and performance profiles for Android will cover popular manufacturers including GPD<\/a>, AYANEO<\/a>, ONEXPLAYER<\/a> and AYN<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important note before changing power settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While it is unlikely your device will be damaged by increasing the power beyond its recommended limits, it is possible. It will cause a higher power drain with little to no performance increase and potential stability issues. Therefore, we recommend you check your devices limits and its optimal TDP or performance profile and do not go above that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For most AMD based devices, around 28W TDP is the sweet spot in terms of power versus performance. You can go to 30W and as high as 35W in some cases, but do check the specifications. GPD Windows devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All GPD models such as the GPD WIN 4 2025<\/a>, GPD WIN Mini 2025<\/a>, GPD WIN MAX 2 2025<\/a> come with included software named Motion Assist. It is a simple but straightforward tool to easily adjust the TDP as well as some other tweaks. You can create profiles for commonly used setups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing the TDP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

There are several predefined TDP settings (1) you can simply click on and the TDP Limit (2) will update to show the current TDP setting.<\/p>\n\n\n

You also have three custom TDP settings that you can use if you want a different TDP than the default ones.<\/p>\n\n\n

CPU Boost Off & On<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The CPU Boost toggle can be useful for providing some extra power to the CPU rather than the GPU. This can help for CPU hungry software where the GPU is not highly demanded. This can help boost performance in some games and may slow performance in others, its trial and error depending on the game and settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click on Disable CPU Boost (1) and it will show the current status on CPU Boost (2) as shown in the image.<\/p>\n\n\n

AYANEO Windows Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All AYANEO Windows devices such as the AYANEO 3<\/a> come with AYA Space which provides a very user friendly way to easily change TDP and related settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can acess the AYA Space overlay at any time via the associated button on your device. You have some pre-defined Performance settings that you can choose from.<\/p>\n\n\n

If you want to change the TDP Limit you can use the slider to go as low as 5W TDP up to the safe limit for your device (35W on this device).<\/p>\n\n\n

Changing the CPU Boost<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The CPU Boost, known as CPU Turbo<\/strong> on AYANEO software, can be useful for providing some extra power to the CPU rather than the GPU. This can help for CPU hungry software where the GPU is not highly demanded. This can help boost performance in some games and may slow performance in others, its trial and error depending on the game and settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the overlay, click on the small Edit <\/strong>icon in the top right area.<\/p>\n\n\n

AYANEO Android Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All AYANEO Android devices such as the AYANEO Pocket Ace<\/a>, AYANEO Pocket DMG<\/a> and more come with AYA Space which provides a very user friendly way to easily change TDP and related settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Changing the TDP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can acess the AYA Space overlay at any time via the associated button on your device. You have some pre-defined Performance settings that you can choose from. Slide your finger to the left to reveal more settings including a Max setting. <\/p>\n\n\n

You can edit the Performance Mode profiles by selecting the small Edit <\/strong>icon.<\/p>\n\n\n

The predefined modes are already comprehensive so you dont really need to change anything here. But you can alter the Scheduling mode, CPU Limit and Frequency. Please do remember to adjust fan speeds if you are making changes.<\/p>\n\n\n

AYN Android devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

AYN do have overlay software which comes with all their devices such as the AYN Odin 2 Mini<\/a> and AYN Odin2 Portal<\/a>, but the performance profiles are managed in the Android drop-down menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drag your finger from the top of the screen downwards to bring up the drop-down menu. Repeat the process to show the full menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can now choose between Standard, Performance and High Performance Modes.<\/p>\n\n\n

ONEXPLAYER Windows Devices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All ONEXPLAYER Windows devices such as the ONEXPLAYER X1 Pro<\/a> and ONEXFLY F1 Pro<\/a> comes with their own software. You can access it through the shortcut ‘Turbo’ button on your device or through the taskbar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overlay will now appear. You can move the performance slider left to right to adjust the TDP from 4W to its maximum TDP (based on the device).<\/p>\n\n\n
