{"id":703,"date":"2021-11-20T18:50:40","date_gmt":"2021-11-20T18:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/droix.co.uk\/knowledge-base\/kb\/droix-t8-firmware-recovery\/"},"modified":"2021-11-20T18:50:40","modified_gmt":"2021-11-20T18:50:40","slug":"droix-t8-firmware-recovery","status":"publish","type":"kb","link":"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/article\/droix-t8-firmware-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"DroiX\u00ae T8 Firmware Recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>This should help to recover your DroiX\u00ae T8 if something went wrong during the upgrade procedure.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">This is only for the very first T8 model, if you have a T8-S, T8-S Plus, T8-S Plus v2, T8 Mini or any other variant that is not a DroiX T8, you should not flash this firmware. It will not work and may damage the device.<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>You will need a Windows-based PC, an SD card (2Gb or larger) and a card reader for your PC<\/p>\n<p>Click the link below to download two files:&nbsp;<strong>Win32DiskImager-0.9.5-install.exe<\/strong> and&nbsp;<strong>sd_2g_dump_t8.img . <\/strong>Right click each of the two files and select the Download entry, then the Standard Download option.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mega.nz\/#F!7VsxhYAa!SXEpQ8qBU_jc9pYHY9hI8g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/mega.nz\/#F!7VsxhYAa!SXEpQ8qBU_jc9pYHY9hI8g<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plug your SD card into your PC&#8217;s SD Card reader (look on the side of laptops)<\/li>\n<li>Open the Win32DiskImager file you just downloaded and proceed with the installation<\/li>\n<li>Right click on the freshly installed Win32DiskImager program and select Run as Administrator (in Windows 10, select the &#8220;More&#8221; menu first)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/xAeDnBYSzqMN2y.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"585\"><\/li>\n<li>Click the blue folder icon and navigate to the download folder where you stored the sd_2g_dump_t8.img file.&nbsp;DO MAKE SURE&nbsp;the card reader is selected in the Device drop-down box (in the exampe below, the F:\\ drive has been chosen)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/n2YaQXdhLB0o26.jpg\" alt=\"Recovery SD card creation Amlogic S802 S812\" width=\"424\" height=\"216\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click the&nbsp;Write button and wait for the process to complete<\/li>\n<li>Once the process has completed, check the contents of your SD card, they should now show these file:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/OriginalNamesExtensionsShown.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-955\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/OriginalNamesExtensionsShown.png\" alt=\"OriginalNamesExtensionsShown\" width=\"502\" height=\"126\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safely eject the SD card from your PC and plug it into your T8<\/li>\n<li>Switch OFF your DroiX\u00ae T8 device<\/li>\n<li>Press and <strong>HOLD<\/strong> the reset button on the right hand side of the device<\/li>\n<li>Press the power button once whilst STILL holding the reset button<\/li>\n<li>Release the reset button after 6 seconds<\/li>\n<li>Leave the device for 2 minutes (the screen should still be black at this stage)<\/li>\n<li>Switch off the device and take the SD card back to your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Rename the file aml_sdc_burn.ini.bak to aml_sdc_burn.ini that is to say you remove the tSling .BAK extension leaving just .INI . Now it should look similar to image below:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/NewNamesExtensionsShown1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-956\" src=\"https:\/\/droix.net\/knowledge-base\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2021\/11\/NewNamesExtensionsShown1.png\" alt=\"NewNamesExtensionsShown\" width=\"503\" height=\"179\"><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Again safely eject the SD&nbsp;card and insert it back into your (turned off still) T8<\/li>\n<li>Press and hold the reset button on the right hand side of the device<\/li>\n<li>Press the power button once while holding down the reset button<\/li>\n<li>Release the reset button after 6 seconds<\/li>\n<li>It should start the upgrade procedure<\/li>\n<li>Wait while it finishes and then switch off your T8<\/li>\n<li>Take the SD card out and turn it on<\/li>\n<li>Now wait while device boots. As usual, complete any setup screens offered.<\/li>\n<li>DO NOT TURN YOUR DEVICE OFF FOR TWENTY MINUTES PLEASE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All done.
