AMD Ryzen Zen 3 Console

Up to 4.5Ghz of raw power

When it comes to Processing power, the AYANEO Next PC Gaming Handheld is no slouch on the couch.

The “horsepower” is provided by an AMD Ryzen 7 5825U processor, based on the latest ZEN 3 Architecture. This provides a smooth experience in gaming while maintaining battery consumption at a minimum. The Ryzen 7 APU found in the AYANEO Next is based off TSMC’s 7nm FinFET litography

The 5825U Ryzen 7 Processor is an octa-core processor with 16 threads of execution. It can idle at 2.0Ghz and boost up to 4.5Ghz when under heavy load. Paired with the AYA Space software, you can configure the TDP of the AYANEO Next Handheld up to 32W for even more performance.

Your games will be considerably faster compared to the latest generation PC Gaming Consoles.

To aid with the Processing power, you will also find 16GB of Dual-Channel LPDDR4x RAM on board, this will keep up with the ever-growing system demands. Speaking of system demands, there are two storage options: 1TB and 2TB – This will ensure you have enough space on hand for the latest PC Games. (Looking at you, Call of Duty)

AYANEO Next AMD GPU

The graphics chipset found in the AYANEO Next is 17% faster in benchmarks compared to the old generation AMD Graphics. Paired with the AYA Space software which allows you to control your console’s TDP and the great cooling solution, the AYANEO Next is a gaming beast.

Bold and Bright

7″ H-IPS Display

When you’re gaming, speed and FPS is not everything (ok, it’s about 90% of the experience) but the medium through which you absorb the experience is very important.

That’s the reason the AYANEO Next comes with a beautiful 1280*800 H-IPS Touchscreen Display.

Great performance, if you’re ok with being an early adopter.

I’ve had my Next for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it! While I’ve mostly used it to play Forza Horizon 5 (at 60fps!) I can tell I’m going to get a lot more use out of it in the future.
The biggest reason I went for this instead of waiting for a Steam Deck was that I wanted a Windows device. I have a lot of games on other launchers and didn’t want to have to experiment with proton versions and adding shortcuts to steam, and generally just have my whole library easily accessible. The Next fully delivers on that.
Aya have recently Updated the Aya Quick Tool that makes changing the TDP of the processor even easier than before, letting you fine tune the exact wattage at any time, without needing to download extra software.
Battery life is better than I expected, I’ve gotten ~3 hours of of Forza, thanks to the TDP control I just mentioned. For lighter games, you can turn it all the way down as far as 3 watts and play all day!

Removing one star for a few reasons:
First, I’ve had some crashes when waking from sleep mode, so if you are to get one yourself get into the habit of shutting by it down fully when you’re not using it. It does save battery life when doing it this way!
Second, while it’s a great device today, Aya and it’s competitors are all coming along with better hardware at the end of this year and next year, with both Zen 3 processors and RDNA 2 graphics, which should blow this thing out of the water. I’d only recommend getting this if you’re ok with being an early adopter, and don’t have a need for the extra performance future products will bring.
Lastly, while the fact that it runs Windows is great for giving easy access to all my games, navigating the OS using the devices touchscreen is cumbersome. You can increase the display scaling, but the 800p screen doesn’t have the pixel density to make that really work. I’d recommend booking up to a monitor and a mouse and keyboard while doing your initial setup, and downloading a universal launcher like Playnite or Launchboxs BigBox to make proper use of the controllers.

Overall, fantastic device, but is definitely only for early adopters in my opinion.

Love this device

Price is very steep but considering I can play almost all my current games on steam on low to medium settings at 60fps whilst out of the house, I think I can forgive that.
The handheld is basically a windows powered handheld PC. Your are free to do with it what you want much like the steam deck. You can either keep windows on it or install SteamOS (search for HoloISO if you want this) or any other Linux distro.
The unit is very premium feeling and the buttons do feel robust too.
I also understand that the analogue sticks are magnetic which means they have more precision and lifetime. I have only had this a couple of weeks so I'll have to see how long they last but the movement of them is very smooth.
Battery life is good too. Depends on what your playing and what settings you run them at. I got 3.5hrs of game play the other day on Bioshock Infinite at medium settings and about 1/3 screen brightness.

Anyone looking to upgrade storage on this should be able to go up to 8TB as of writing this. This runs windows and does have a full sized 2280 M.2 NVME slot so storage upgrade is very easy to do. I have not yet done this but looks simple to do. Just haven't gotten round to upgrading it yet.
Much like a windows desktop PC, when putting the device to sleep some games either will crash or have trouble getting it's resolution right after you sleep and then wake the device. I have found that an app called Borderless gaming fixes some of these issues as it forces the game to run in borderless windowed which with some games seemed to stop windows from resizing the game when it's woken up.

Great device. 9/10. Would be 10/10 but again price is a little steep.
