We tested battery life by running AnTuTu on a loop at maximum screen brightness, on the maximum performance profile and with the fan speed set to stress the device. It lasted 4 hours 20 minutes. Average usage will vary by workload, but you can expect around 8 to 10 hours.
During the battery-life tests, we also measured fan noise and temperatures. We saw around 52dB on the Smart fan setting and around 58dB on the Extreme fan setting. The fan area reached around 45°C, which remained fairly cool.

Retroid Pocket 6 Software Overview
The Retroid Pocket 6 runs Android 13 which, while not the latest version, remains suitable for gaming and app compatibility. You can use the standard home screen and launcher across multiple pages.
You can also use Retroid’s own launcher software, which is overall very good. It can import your ROM collection and get boxart and screenshots automatically, though its success does vary. Or you can use your own frontend for launching games.
The Retroid overlay provides shortcuts to commonly used functions and shows performance data. It is not as detailed as some other overlays, but it does the job.
Android Gaming
Our go-to games, including Alien Isolation, Dungeon Hunter 6 and Vampire Survivors, all ran without issues. You should not have problems with the vast majority of Android games.
As is standard with Android gaming handhelds, the Retroid overlay includes screen-mapping software. It is extremely easy to map the on-screen controls to the controller inputs and be up and running in moments.
Emulation Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a capable processor, so you can expect to run just about everything up to the PlayStation 2 era without performance issues. For most systems, you can increase rendering resolution to 1080p and, in some cases, 4K when outputting to a TV or monitor. This Android emulation handheld is most convincing when you move into the more demanding emulators.
NetherSX2 Turnip
The PlayStation 2 emulator runs very well. We upscaled to 1080p with some graphics tweaks and achieved a full 60 FPS. We also tried a range of other games without issues. For anyone seeking a handheld PS2 emulator, this is a strong result.
Eden
The Eden emulator runs very well overall. Our go-to game, Cruisn’ Blast, ran perfectly with no slowdown or judder. First-party games delivered very playable performance, with occasional judder.
Vita3K
The Vita emulator, Vita3K, runs exceptionally well. Wipeout 2048 is very playable, with only very minor shader-cache lag from time to time. Depending on the game’s demands, you can increase the rendering resolution.
X1 Box
Performance in the early work-in-progress Xbox emulator, X1 Box, varies greatly by game. MASHED ran reasonably well with occasional slowdown, while PGR2 ran considerably slower and was not playable. This is an early emulator and may improve over time.
Final Thoughts
During this Retroid Pocket 6 review, the standout features were the 5.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, compact portability and the curved rear sections that provide a very comfortable grip. The configurable left-side D-pad position and rear macro buttons also give you welcome control flexibility without compromising the handheld’s travel-friendly size.
Performance is where the Retroid Pocket 6 makes its strongest case. It is 82.7% ahead of the Retroid Pocket 5 in AnTuTu, gains 64.7% in Geekbench 5 single-core, 59.7% in Geekbench 5 multi-core, and delivers a 189.2% uplift in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. It sits close to the AYN Thor in our results, although the AYN Odin3 and Konkr Pocket Fit remain ahead. If you own a Retroid Pocket 5 and want stronger performance for more demanding Android gaming and emulation, it is a worthwhile upgrade; it is less essential if you only play lower-demand systems.
Our verdict: the Retroid Pocket 6 is highly recommended if you want a high-performance mid-range option among Android gaming handhelds.
Best for: buyers who want a compact AMOLED device for native Android games and demanding emulation.
Not ideal for: owners of a Retroid Pocket 5 who only play lower-demand systems and do not need the performance uplift.
