Our staff member Jack, visited ChinaJoy 2025, a digital entertainment expo & conference in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This post is concentrating on the GPD and ONEXPLAYER stands as Jack got to try the upcoming GPD WIN 5 and various ONEXPLAYER devices including the ONEXPLAYER Sugar 1.

GPD Stand

Jacks first port of call was the GPD stand and the GPD WIN 5 which is the current hot topic. We covered in our recent GPD WIN 5 announced article so this was mainly just to get some hands on time with it. Jack was able to confirm it will NOT have any kind of internal battery, and you will need to power it via the DC connection or the battery pack.

Jacks thoughts

I had a quick look at the GPD WIN 5 at their booth, and even though I didn’t get as much time with it as I’d have liked, it left a solid impression. It’s quite similar in appearance to the WIN 4, but the lack of a built-in keyboard definitely stood out to me at first—especially since I’m so used to having one. That said, I didn’t find it to be much of an issue in practice. The external battery pack was smaller than I expected, which was a nice surprise, though it’s a bit of a shame there’s no internal one at all, even a small one.

ONEXPLAYER Stand

The ONEXPLAYER stand was quite impressive with a large area packed full of ONEXPLAYER handheld gaming PCs to play on. We have already have all but one of their devices, so the ONEXPLAYER Sugar 1 was first to get some hands on time. We hope to get our hands on the Sugar very soon for a full review!

Jacks thoughts

The ONEXPLAYER booth was one of the flashier setups I saw, and the staff were incredibly friendly. They had me try out each of their devices, snapped a few pictures, and even gave me some cute plushies. I was really impressed by the ONEXSUGAR—its transforming function is super slick, and I particularly liked the white version. It was a fun and engaging experience that really showed off their attention to both design and user interaction.
