Power Usage

In our power usage tests for this GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U review, the system used 8.4W while idle on the Windows desktop, around 17W when using general software, and up to 55W under full load. These figures show that the A7 R5-7545U is very economical during light everyday use, where it is likely to spend most of its time in a home office, reception desk, classroom, or media setup.

The jump to 55W under full load is expected when the AMD Ryzen 5 7545U is pushed hard, but it still keeps the system far below the power draw of a conventional desktop PC. For users looking at a mini PC for home office use or a mini PC for business deployment, the low idle and general software figures are arguably more important than the peak load result, as they reflect the type of usage most buyers will see day to day.

Fan Noise and Temperatures

Fan noise and temperatures were measured while running Cinebench on a loop. On the desktop, the GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U was barely audible at 36dB, rising to around 44dB when using software and reaching 57dB under full load.

The full load fan noise is noticeable when the processor is being pushed continuously, but this is not the noise level you should expect during normal browsing, documents, streaming, or light productivity. During routine work, the fan profile is far more restrained, which helps the system fit into quiet offices, living rooms, and shared workspaces.

Temperatures were also well controlled in this GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U review, with the system reaching 57°C under full load. That is a strong result for such a compact chassis and suggests the cooling system is doing its job without allowing the Ryzen processor to run excessively hot during sustained workloads.

It is still around 64.2% faster than the GEEKOM Air 12 2026 and around 229.8% faster than the Air 12 Lite, meaning the A7 R5-7545U remains far better suited than the entry-level models for light gaming, GPU-assisted workloads, and more demanding visual tasks.

The benchmark results in this GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U review place the A7 in a clear mid-range position across GEEKOM’s recent line-up. It leads the group in PCMark10, performs well in Cinebench, and stays comfortably ahead of the Air 12 models in every test. The GEEKOM IT13 2025 remains the stronger choice for users prioritising peak PassMark, multi-core CPU, and 3DMark performance, but the A7 R5-7545U offers a very strong balance of everyday speed, compact efficiency, and practical value.

Gaming Performance

AMD processors are capable of gaming and depending on the processor you can get some impressive results. For the following performance tests we are running at our standard testing resolution of 1080P with the lowest graphics settings.

Forza Horizon 5

At 1080P on the Very Low graphics settings we do see below 60 frames per second performance. However, drop the resolution to 720P and you get far higher results above 60 FPS.

The GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U is best suited for 720P resolution for higher demanding games that are in particular GPU intensive. The 740M GPU is good, but not quite good enough for comfortable gaming at 1080P. The sweet spot is 720P with some leg room for higher graphics settings.

Day-to-Day Operation

For day-to-day operation, the GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U feels best suited to users who want a compact Windows 11 desktop that can handle several roles without taking up much space. In office use, it is well matched to web apps, email, spreadsheets, document editing, video calls, remote desktop work, and browser-heavy multitasking.

The quad-monitor support is a major advantage. With a combination of USB-C and HDMI outputs, the A7 R5-7545U can be used for multi-screen productivity, monitoring dashboards, customer-facing displays, financial workstations, or content workflows where having several windows visible at once saves time.

As a smart home setup, the GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U can act as a small always-on controller for home automation dashboards, security camera viewing, local server tools, and browser-based control panels. Its compact size and low idle power usage make it easier to leave running than a full desktop PC, especially if it is placed in a cupboard, network area, or media cabinet.

It also makes sense as a media server or a mini PC for streaming. The 2.5Gbps Ethernet port is useful for fast local network transfers, while the USB ports and SD card reader make it easy to attach external storage or move media files. For Plex-style media libraries, local playback, streaming services, or a living room Windows setup, the A7 R5-7545U has more than enough general performance.

For buyers comparing it with a mini PC with Intel processor options, the AMD Ryzen configuration gives the A7 R5-7545U a strong productivity profile while still offering familiar Windows 11 compatibility. It is also a practical option for anyone comparing AMD-based systems with Intel compact computers, Intel small form factor PCs, or mini Intel desktops for everyday office and media use.

This is not a dedicated gaming PC, but it can still handle light gaming, browser games, cloud gaming, retro emulation, and older Windows titles within reason. The Radeon 740M graphics are better viewed as a useful integrated GPU for display output, video playback, and light 3D workloads rather than a replacement for a discrete graphics card.

Final Thoughts

The GEEKOM A7 R5-7545U review shows a mini PC that performs well where it matters most for its class. It is compact, efficient at idle, well equipped for connectivity, and strong in general productivity benchmarks.

Compared with other GEEKOM devices, the A7 R5-7545U sits neatly between the entry-level Air 12 models and higher-performance options such as the IT13 2025.
