A new image of the long rumoured Miyoo Mini Flip , also known as the Miyoo 355, has been shown on Twitter. Let’s take a look at this Miyoo Mini Plus successor.
The Miyoo Mini design
The Miyoo Mini Flip clearly takes inspiration from the classic Gameboy Advance SP design with its vertical flip clamshell design. On the top half is what we are estimating is a 3.5″ LCD in 4:3 aspect ratio, that is great for retro gaming on! The bottom half of the retro gaming handheld has a function or possibly the power button with the D-Pad and gaming buttons just below. Towards the bottom are dual analogue sticks and the SELECT + START buttons.
Miyoo Mini Flip Technical Specifications
Not much is known yet on the technical specifications. We do know that it will be using the RK3566 processor which is an old but extremely popular choice of processor for these portable gaming handhelds.
The RK3566 Quad-Core 64-bit Cortex-A55 processor runs up to 1.8GHz and you are looking at up to around PS1 and Dreamcast era levels of emulation. It does of course depend on the actual emulators performance. We saw with the RG353V and RG353VS handhelds using this processor, that the emulators were not optimised and had issues with PS1 and Dreamcast emulation. However custom firmwares such as JELOS performed far better than stock firmware.
We do know that the Miyoo Mini Flip will have WiFi support which is great to see. However it will not have Bluetooth, does anyone use Bluetooth on these devices anyway?
Miyoo Mini Flip emulator support
The emulators that the Miyoo Mini Flip will support will vastly depend on which setup the OS will use. Miyoo may stick with their own firmware, which is basic, but does the job. Or go with a more traditional system similar to an Anbernic handheld? Personally I wouldn’t mind them reaching out to a custom firmware developers such as Onion OS or JELOS to port theirs over to it.
I would expect the usual emulators included as standard such as Master System, NES, Mega Drive / Genesis, SNES, PC Engine, Arcade, Neo Geo, PlayStation 1, Dreamcast, and possibly N64 and PSP.
Miyoo Mini Flip Release Date
The Miyoo Mini Flip was rumoured to be released in December 2023, but we have it on good authority on at least a March 2024 release date.
Miyoo Mini Plus Price
We do not have any information on the Miyoo Mini Flip price apart that it will cost less than $100.
