Today we are comparing the MinisForum X500 Ryzen 5 vs the Ryzen 7 model that we reviewed a week or so ago. We will be running some system and gaming benchmarks to see the difference in performance between the two.

If you watched our previous video, we mentioned that the X500 are using desktop processors. This means they generally have higher performance than the mobile processors that are usually found in mini PCs. Ryzen Mini PC’s are usually faster than Intel Min PC’s in situations such as when software uses multiple CPU cores and threads.

MinisForum X500 Ryzen 5 vs Ryzen 7: System Benchmarks

We’ll now perform a series of benchmarks comparing the MinisForum X500 Ryzen 5 vs Ryzen 7.

PassMark

We start off our benchmarks with PassMark which pushes the CPU, GPU, RAM and storage to their maximum for their peak performance.

The MinisForum X500 with Ryzen 5 scores an impressive 5,834.

The MinisForum X500 with Ryzen 7 scores a very impressive 6,353.

That’s around a 8.5% difference in performance which is a nice gap between the two models. They are also amongst the highest we have seen in our mini PC benchmarks.

PCMark

Next in our benchmarks is PCMark which is more of a real life set of benchmarks. It tests day to day tasks such as web browsing, video conferencing, media consumption and working with large office documents.

The Ryzen 5 scores an impressive 6,484.

The Ryzen 7 scores 6 thousand 7,081, again it is a very impressive score.

This gives us a score difference of around 4.4%, both scores are great and again are amongst the highest we have seen in our benchmarks.

3DMark

3DMark tests the performance of the CPU and GPU working together. This gives us a good indication of its speed for gaming, video editing and image processing for example.

The Ryzen 5 scores 1,505.

The Ryzen 7 scores 1,610.

There’s a score difference of around 6.7%

Gaming Benchmarks

Forza Horizon 4

We start off the gaming benchmarks with Forza Horizon 4 running at 1280×720 on the default Ultra graphics settings.

The MinisForum X500 Ryzen 5 scores 53 frames per second.

The Ryzen 7 scores 55 frames per second which is good.

This gives us a score difference of around 3.7%. Both scores are good and with a few graphics settings lowered you can enjoy 60 FPS no problem.

Street Fighter V

For Street Fighter V we are running the first match at 1920×1080 at maximum graphics settings.

The Ryzen 5 scores 35.57 frames per second and the Ryzen 7 scores 35.61 frames per second. I was expecting the Ryzen 7 to be a little higher but it seems I was wrong.

Final Fantasy XIV

We are running at 1920×1080 at Highest Desktop settings in our Final Fantasy XIV benchmark test.

The Ryzen 5 finishes the benchmark with a score of 3.758.

The MinisForum X500 Ryzen 7 finishes the benchmark with a score of 3,795, with a slightly low rating.

That’s a score difference of around 0.9%. Again there’s not a major difference between the two here.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

For Shadow of the Tomb Raider we are running the benchmarks on the Lowest and Highest graphics settings to see the differences in performance.

The Ryzen 5 scores 68 frames per second on Lowest and 34 frames per second on Highest graphics settings.

The Ryzen 7 scores 69 frames per second on Lowest, and 35 frames per second on Highest. These are pretty good scores for the mini PC’s specification.

The score differences are 1.4% for lowest and 2.8% for highest.

MinisForum X500 Benchmark Results for Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7

In terms of system performance, there is a decent gap between the two models ranging from 4.4 to 8.5%. Putting them side by side and using them for daily tasks, you may see some slightly faster performance in terms of booting windows, loading software and working with large documents for example.

For gaming, there is surprisingly little difference overall, ranging from 0% to 3.7%. It will depend on the game and how it takes advantage of multiple cores and threads as we can see from the Forza Horizon 4 benchmark.

Both devices are high performance, rating the highest for PassMark and PCMark. This is due to it having the desktop CPU instead of the usual mobile based CPU. If you want a high performance office mini PC for home or work then look no further!
