OneXPlayer 1S – Top 5 Games To Play

OneXPlayer 1S Top 5 Games

The OneXPlayer 1S is first and foremost a gaming handheld. So what better way for us to celebrate its launch than to provide you with a list of the top games for the OneXPlayer 1S?
You can purchase the OneXPlayer 1S from DroiX for shipping in the UK and worldwide.
With that out of the way, let us continue…

What is the OneXPlayer?

The OneXPlayer 1S is One-Netbook‘s attempt at joining the handheld gaming PC market. While like the GPD WIN 3 and AYA NEO in concept, the main draw of the OneXPlayer is it’s large, high-resolution display.

Capable of outputting crisp, high-quality images in AAA games despite being a handheld device, the OneXPlayer is one of the best gaming handhelds to-date.

Top 5 games for OneXPlayer 1S

1. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

Monster Hunter World Iceborne on OneXPlayer
MHW on the OneXPlayer fits perfectly, considering the series’ portable heyday.

Monster Hunter: World is the fifth entry in the famous Monster Hunter franchise. It is an action RPG with an emphasis on lengthy, intricate boss fights, and a uniquely weighty feel to the combat. It is Capcom’s best selling game of all time as of 2021.

MHW (and it’s 2020 expansion Iceborne) feature a large variety of beautiful, detailed, sprawling environments; ranging from tropical jungles, to scorching active volcanoes.

Thanks to using an entirely new engine, there are no more loading screens separating the hunting “zones” on the map. So your hunt will be seamless and load-free from start to finish.

For those who wish that Monster Hunter World was on the Switch, this might be a viable alternative. The series was at its most popular on handheld consoles, so it will feel right at home on the OneXPlayer.

You can buy Monster Hunter World (and it’s Iceborne expansion) from the Steam Store at the time of writing.

2. Red Dead Redemption 2

While Red Dead Redemption 2 on the Switch is unlikely, the OneXPlayer is a good alternative.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar Games’ popular cowboy-themed action adventure title. Originally releasing in 2018 on console, and receiving a PC port about one year later.

The main draw of Red Dead Redemption 2 is it’s gargantuan, freely-explorable open world and 40+ hour single player campaign. Flush with high-fidelity detail and immersive design at every corner that really draws the player in, RDR2 can easily eat hours of your time in a single sitting.

Red Dead Redemption 2 features an online portion that can be bought as a stand-alone title at a reduced cost.

You can buy Red Dead Redemption 2 from Steam and from the Microsoft Store.

3. GTA V

GTA V Online OneXPlayer 1S Top Games
Despite being eight years old, GTA V is still as popular as ever.

GTA V is another Rockstar-developed action-adventure game, with an emphasis on player freedom and expressiveness. We couldn’t complete a list of the OneXPlayer 1S’ top games without this.

Originally released in 2013, GTA V has gone on to be one of the best selling games of all time, and has remained consistently popular since release.

Featuring an engaging, multiple-hour story alongside tons of cars and guns to collect, as well as many unique “heists” in the GTA Online component of the game, GTA V is still worth playing today despite its age.

You can buy RGTA V on Steam and the Microsoft Store.

4. Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 OneXPlayer 1S Top Games
Forza Horizon 4 features hundreds of cars for you to tear across the British countryside with.

Forza Horizon 4 is the fourth entry in Horizon subseries of the Forza franchise.

Unlike it’s sister subseries (Motorsport), the Forza Horizon games shy away from realistic racing simulation. Instead, they focus on a more arcade-y, open-world style of racing, mixing in a variety of stunt challenges to shake up the standard formula.

Because it is an open world. A great deal of care and effort has gone into making Forza Horizon 4 look photorealistic. With some screenshots being indistinguishable from real life at a glance.

For an idea of how Forza Horizon performs, check out this extract of our video review for the OneXPlayer below.

You can buy Forza Horizon 4 from both Steam and the Microsoft Store.

5. Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV Portable OneXPlayer 1S Gaming Handheld
FFXIV’s journey from 1.0 to today is one of the greatest redemption stories in gaming history.

Final Fantasy 14 (also known as FFXIV) is a popular massively-multiplayer online role playing game, developed and published by Square Enix

FFXIV was initially launched in 2010, but due to many issues, it was deemed a critical and commercial failure. It shut down in late 2012, and was completely re–launched in late 2013. It has gone on to become one of the most popular MMORPGs of all time, to the point where retailers have run out of digital copies.

While it is unlikely that Final Fantasy XIV on the Switch will ever exist (in it’s current form, anyways). A good alternative would be using the OneXPlayer instead. While veterans of the genre may balk at the idea of using controllers for an MMO, FFXIV actually has some of the most robust controller support ever seen in the genre.

You can buy FFXIV from both Steam and Square Enix directly. The game’s fourth expansion, Endwalker, is set to release this year in November.
