System Benchmarks
PassMark
We start the system benchmarks with PassMark which runs a series of artificial tests to push the CPU, GPU, RAM and storage to their maximum performance.
The P2 MAX 2022 scores 1,958 which is a respectable score for this specification of ultrabook.
PCMark
Next in our benchmarks is PCMark. This runs a series of benchmark tests across your typical day to day tasks. This includes web browsing, video conferencing, working with office documents and much more.
The GPD P2 MAX scores 2,646. Again a good score for the specification with fast boot times as well.
3DMark
While the P2 MAX is not a gaming Ultrabook, it is capable of handling less demanding games on lower graphics settings.
We got a score of 399, it’s far from being the highest but not the lowest.
Gaming Benchmarks
Forza Horizon 4
We start with Forza 4 Horizon which is running on 1280×720 on Ultra settings.
The mini laptop scores 12 frames per second. We were quite surprised and were expecting lower. On the lowest graphics settings you could get playable frame rates.
Street Fighter V
Next we have Street Fighter V running at 1080p on the Maximum graphic settings. At the end of the first match we get an average of 11.6 frames per second.
Changing the resolution to 720P and a mix of mainly low with some medium settings you can hit 60 frames per second.
Final Fantasy XIV
The Final Fantasy XIV benchmark runs at 1920×1080 on the highest desktop settings.
We get a score of 1,064 which is on the lower scale of performance.
Benchmark Results
Here is a brief recap of the benchmark results.
PASSMARK | 1958 |
PCMARK | 2646 |
3DMARK | 399 |
FORZA HORIZON 4 | 12 FPS |
STREET FIGHTER V | 11.16 FPS |
FINAL FANTASY XIV | 1064 |
Overall they are good scores for the Pentium N6000 CPU. The P2 MAX 2022 is great for your daily tasks for everything from web browsing, through to working with office documents for example. And while it does not have the high performance of a gaming laptop, it handles media and some light gaming very well.
Compared to the original GPD P2 MAX model which has the Intel Celeron 3965Y processor, you can expect to see an increase between 200% to 300% in performance depending on the task. It is definitely worth upgrading if you have the older GPD model.
Comparing P2 MAX 2022 with other GPD devices
So now the latest revisions of GPD’s laptop style devices are available, let’s compare them!
The GPD Win MAX 2021 is the high end model aimed for those that like to work and play. It had the overall highest benchmark scores, built in gaming controls and is great for demanding workloads as well as AAA Windows games.
The GPD Pocket 3 shares the same hardware specifications as the MAX but is aimed more towards industry work with its modular design. Although there is nothing stopping you connecting a controller and enjoying some demanding games. It is, however, perfect for your day to day work tasks through to more advanced tasks that can be equally as demanding.
The P2 MAX 2022 while not as high performance as the other two. It is more than capable of your day to day home and work tasks with a longer battery life than the others. It is also lighter and more portable which makes it perfect for spending the day away from a power source while travelling.

The P2 Max 2022 Is a Refresh of a Popular Classic Ultrabook – P2 Max 2022 FAQ

Welcome to our P2 Max 2022 FAQ. Where we’ll be cataloguing all the info relating to the recently announced P2 Max 2022 laptop as it comes to light. Check back regularly for new updates!
What is the P2 Max (2022)?
The P2 Max 2022 was announced on December the 27th by GPD via their official Twitter feed. Stating that the device would „soon be listed on the Aliexpress store”.
The P2 Max 2022 is intended as a refresh of an existing GPD product: the P2 Max.
The aim of the P2 Max is to provide a middle-ground between GPD’s micro-laptop, the GPD Pocket 2, and more conventional larger laptops.
The P2 Max is noticably larger than the GPD Pocket 2, as it features a much larger display. As well as a more comfortable chiclet-style keyboard (similar to the one on the GPD WIN MAX 2021) and a touchpad that is much more user-friendly.
P2 Max 2022 Preliminary Specifications
The P2 Max 2022 is a refresh of the GPD P2 Max. A small laptop released in 2019 by GPD.
It came in two configurations – one being a low-end model with an Intel Celeron 3965Y and an 8/256 RAM/SSD configuration, and a higher-end model with an Intel Core M3-8100Y and twice the amount of RAM and storage.
The P2 Max 2022 has been stated to feature the following upgrades:
- A new processor – The Intel Pentium N6000, released in early 2021.
- Wi-Fi 6 functionality
- 16GB of LPDDR4 RAM @ 2933MHz (as opposed to the 8/16GB of LPDDR3 on the previous model)
- A 1TB M.2 NVMe 22*80 SSD – Which should be upgradable, much like the previous model.
Beyond that, the specifications of the device should be similar to the original P2 Max. Including the 8.9-inch display, and the awkwardly placed camera in the centre of the unit.
The the new processor should provide a slight performance improvement over the old M3-8100Y. While not an increase in terms of raw speed, the higher core count, faster RAM, and enhanced integrated graphics should provide an even smoother experience overall.
That’s all we have in our P2 Max 2022 FAQ for now. How do you feel about the P2 Max? Is it a welcome refresh to a somewhat outdated product, or perhaps should GPD have pooled their resources into making something „new”? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned for further updates!
