Retro Games

Retro Games made easy if you want to take some time to configure the device properly. After that initial configuration is done the device is quite impressive and does what's expected to do, play with everything you want.

Brilliant!

I’ve had this for a couple weeks now and it’s been great. I was a complete beginner with emulators but I followed a YouTube and had this up and running really easy. Overall quality is top notch, it feels amazing to play. I currently have lots of GBA, NES, N64 and PSP games loaded and they run flawlessly. It’s a perfect blend between retro and modern and I will be carrying this everywhere I go now.

Excellent device at it's price

First off I would say this device lives up to expectations as long as your expectations are not too high! N64 will mostly run well, even flawlessly, of course this goes for anything older SNES / GB(C/A) Sega etc. There will however be some games that you may have issues with, often these can be fixed if you know how to tweak the settings (plenty of info available online).
I had an issue with formatting the SD as internal as it seemed to corrupt the card when I tried to read it on my PC. Neither Windows or Linux could read the card when it was formatted internally, I had to use it as 'external storage' but after that I was able to just drag and drop my games on the card.
The overall build is very nice, my only complaints would be the brightness range isn't amazing (although the device is plenty bright enough), so it wouldn't be ideally suited to playing in the dark or very sunny days outside but that's fine with me. The other thing is the buttons can feel just a little spongy.. These are rubber dome contacts, you wouldn't expect much else on a device at this price, overall the quality is good, it's simple to use at it's Android OS and has WiFi, Bluetooth and micro HDMI out. The colours of the screen are nice and stereo audio is punchy and good quality. Comfortable to hold, I like the way they've laid out the analogue sticks (which don't click in so you have no 'R3 / L3').
Overall I'm very happy with it, I would say that it's ideal if you want to relive the n64 era or prior but don't expect Gamecube to run. Some Gamecube games will run at near to full speed but many of the popular games will only run at maybe 50% speed on low resolution. If you want that kind of performance maybe check out the AYN Odin which is reasonably priced and may actually be a 5* choice compared to this.

Advanced Retro Mechanics

A really solid system with a learning curve. Not as simple to set up as the Anbernic retro devices. But once you set it up and learn how to use it, the Retroid Pocket 2 is a great retro device with a ton of uses.

Superb Device!

I was a little skeptical about DroiX since I've not heard of them before. But they were the only place in the UK I could find the Retroid Pocket 2 in stock, so I took a chance.
I'm glad I did now! The device arrived quickly, and so far I've been struggling to put it down because it's so addictive! The Retroid OS is very convenient to use too.

Best Budget Handheld

The RP2+ is one of the best budget handhelds I have used and I have a few, It plays everything I throw at it, from Spectrum to Dreamcast, along with some Saturn and plenty of PSX and Arcade, setup is not turn on and off you go there is a little more to it, but there are plenty of videos online to get you going, I was up and running in an hour or so, the touch screen is so perfect and helpful too, since then I have tweaked it myself getting everything how I want it, I would suggest buying a 128gb MicroSD card I went with a U3 class 10 A2 and its perfect, fits all my games on no problems along with some movies and other stuff.

All in all its a a great handheld console, runs android so you get access to google play and everything else, decent battery though I am only getting about 5 hours from it, but plugging it into something is simple enough and there is always a usb-c charger somewhere, I hook my Bluetooth headphones up to it and the sound is great even from the built in speakers when they get used, oh don't forget to grab a case for it too as they seem to be pretty hard to find.

As for DroiX, they were great, super nice and very helpful customer support keeping me up to date every step of the way with my order, delivery was really fast once they had stock, hopefully they will be getting the Ayn Loki's in stock so I can grab one of them too.

Its fun grab one while you can.

Great for older 8-bit gamers

I'm really pleased with my Retroid Pocket 2. I especially love the dual boot system, so you can boot into the Retroid OS and just start playing with the ample number of games provided. Then, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you can boot into Android and start tinkering with the Retroarch config. As an "older" retro gamer, I wanted to play some of the older 8-bit games on emulators for the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64. With some time spent in the Retroarch settings, these can be configured quite easily. There's plenty of blogs and videos out there to help you.

I like that this device will appeal to both users who want to install extra emulators and those who don't want to be bogged down in any technical stuff.

Plus I can't fault the build quality either. It's very very good.
