ONEXPLAYER Mini AMD Announced

Bringing "Zen 3" to the ONEXPLAYER Mini

ONEXPLAYER Mini Gaming Handheld

Earlier this week, the Chinese manufacturer One-Netbook — a company known for their variety of premium-spec mini laptops and gaming handhelds — announced the next revision of their popular ONEXPLAYER handheld gaming PC. Known currently as the ONEXPLAYER Mini AMD.

What is the ONEXPLAYER Mini AMD?

In a fashion similar to that of their larger model, the ONEXPLAYER 1S, One-Netbook will be releasing a variant of their ONEXPLAYER Mini gaming handheld featuring an AMD processor: The AMD Ryzen 7 5800U.

This 8-core processor runs at up to speeds of 4.4GHz, and runs on AMD’s cutting-edge AMD Zen 3 archiceture, bringing with it efficiency and performance improvements across the board.

The ONEXPLAYER Mini AMD also features a slightly larger 48wh battery, and two variations of 7-inch screen. One of which sports the normal 1280x800p resolution, and another which sports a 1920x1200p resolution.

Aside from that, the rest of the model is similar to the regular ONEXPLAYER Mini, featuring a 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM @ 4266MHz, and an option of 512GB, 1TB and 2TB NVMe SSD storage. As well as the same USB 3.0 and two USB Type-C ports (because the device is not an Intel model however, these Type-C ports are not Thunderbolt enabled).

The ONEXPLAYER is One-Netbook’s approach to a handheld gaming PC.

The ONEXPLAYER is a line of gaming handhelds that originally debuted in early-mid-2021 with the ONEXPLAYER 1S crowdfunding campaign. Following hot off the heels of similar gaming handhelds such as the GPD WIN 3 and the AYANEO 2021.

Originally launching in three Intel-powered variants (featuring the i5-1135G7, i7-1165G7, and i7-1185G7 CPU), the ONEXPLAYER now currently comes in one Intel and two AMD powered variants.

Common features of the ONEXPLAYER family include a signature black-and-orange colour shell, high-performance processors and very large touch displays. Much like similar gaming handhelds, the ONEXPLAYER can comfortably play a large variety of AAA games (and is also an emulation monster).

What is the ONEXPLAYER Mini?

A common complaint against the ONEXPLAYER is that it was simply too large for many to comfortably use. This is where the ONEXPLAYER Mini comes in.

Debuting in late 2021, the ONEXPLAYER Mini is a scaled down version of the ONEXPLAYER. Featuring the same i7-1195G7 processor and 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, but at approximately 3/4ths the size.

This size reduction puts it more in-line with its contemporaries, and makes it more portable overall. You can learn more about it in our ONEXPLAYER Mini review!
