ANBERNIC RG35XX V2

While I don't consider myself a purist, I would say that I'm pickier than the average joe who just wants to play Mario on the go. I try to play on real hardware whenever I can, I recently moved to the UK so I had to leave a lot of my retro stuff behind. I still have my GBA and Dreamcast, but my NES, SNES, Mega Drive, PSX, all that couldn't come with me. The RG35XX appealed to me because it can emulate those systems flawlessly, and it can do that while being in the form factor of a slightly smaller Game Boy Pocket (which is my favorite GB revision).

If it's so great then, why only 4 stars? Well, this isn't really the devices fault, but there's a few things new buyers should know, specifically people who plan on tinkering with this thing to get it just right.
1. The stock OS is bad, stretches' games and doesn't run well overall. This can be remedied by GarlicOS or MinUI, but...
2. GarlicOS doesn't seem to work on the most recent motherboard revision, it doesn't work on mine and I bought from DroiX FYI. MinUI works great, but doesn't give you as many options as Garlic does, which
is a bummer for someone who has goldilocks syndrome when it comes to emulation lol.
3. Don't use any other charging cable besides the one it comes with, Chinese products are known for having power issues, it even says on the back of the system "Only use certified charger, the battery may explode in a fire".
The device doesn't come with its own power brick, but going off of what others have said online, you'll want a 5.0 V 1.0, I had a basic Amazon one which seems to fit that description, but again, your mileage may very, just be careful and do your research.

All-in-all, it's a great device, love the form factor, the buttons feel good to mash, beautiful screen, and it plays pretty much anything 8 bit to some 32 bit I've thrown at it. I recommend it for those who want to play Game Boy and GBC and don't wanna shell out 200 quid for a modded IPS GBC.

Smooth service and the console has hours of retro fun already. Getting used to the retroarch and the settings will take time but works a treat.

Amazing piece of kit, ideal size and amazing screen. New Garlic OS is being updated all the time so can only get better.

Honestly I was a bit worried as to how a device like this would feel in my hands and if it would feel cheap but I'm so happy to say I am thoroughly impressed!

The device runs all games I have tried so far flawlessly. I installed garlic OS as most people recommend (it was only a struggle cos each file to go on is split into 2 parts now which are both needed to extract).

This is an amazing first entry into the retro handheld scene and I highly recommend it!

Great budget handheld

The screen is immediately impressive. The form is generally good. Some games are too sensitive to the d-pad and will sometimes read left or right as up, but it's infrequent enough to be fine. I also don't think the battery would serve you on long trips. Overall, very good value.

I am absolutely blown away with how quickly I received this as well as the overall use of the Anbernic RG35XX. After spending months agonizing over which emulator to get this did not disappoint! Comes with all you think it should. There is a custom firmware you could install as well which would make it even better. But for now this has everything anyone could want to get started up in this fantastic world of emulation.
