The Retroid Pocket 3 represents great price versus performance for a retro gaming handheld. Improving on the Retroid Pocket 2+ with larger screen, more RAM and newer Android version.

The Retroid Pocket 3 retro gaming handheld uses the ARM Unisoc with Cortex A75 @ 2.0Ghz & A55 @ 1.8GHz. It features the PowerVR GE8300 for graphics, running at 800Mhz. There is 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 32GB eMMC storage for Android. You can expand the storage via a micro SD card.

The Retroid Pocket 3 is very portable at only 7.2 x 3.1 x 0.9 inches (18.4 x 8.1 x 2.4 cm) and lightweight at 240g, it can easily fit into a jacket pocket or small bag. The 4.7” touchscreen is an upgrade from the previous model and looks bright and vibrant. The retro gaming handheld features clickable dual analogue sticks, D-Pad and the standard gaming buttons. It is very comfortable to play for extended gaming sessions.
With Android 11 you can enjoy the latest in Android games and apps with the built in Google Play Store. The Retroid Pocket 3 has built in screen mapping software that you set for buttons to mimic screen presses. It makes gaming, such as first-person shooters, far more fun, responsive and easier to play than pressing the screen.

The Retroid Pocket 3 can connect to the big TV via the Micro HDMI port on the retro gaming handheld. It supports up to 720P which is great for games and emulators. There is WiFi 5 for online access, and you can download and update apps or play supported retro games via RetroArch with friends online.

The Retroid Pocket 3 runs on a 4000mAh rechargeable battery. In our tests we left it running for 6 hours running benchmarks, and around 6 hours playing Mega Drive. More demanding systems may use more battery life. It is a great retro gaming handheld for your daily commute or for when travelling thanks to the easily portability and long battery life.

Great bit of kit

I got this primarily for PSP emulation after my PSP finally gave up on me. Since getting it I've only played PS2 games - it's really surprising what this thing is capable of! Highly recommend the Retro Game Corps setup guide, it's a bit of a faff, but once you're done it's absolutely brilliant.

Retroid pocket 3 plus hits the mark

Purchased the RP3+ to play mainly PSP, PS1, Dreamcast and N64 games. I own several handheld devices which all have their own strengths and weaknesses and the RP3+ is no different. Like everyone says, it needs some setup but if you have experience with android apps and adding your own ROMs this shouldn't be a problem for you (YouTube is your go-to for help here). I personally installed all the emulators I required from the Google Play Store and I have my ROMs on a 256Gb SD card. Settings for each emulator can also be found on YouTube if required. ALL the systems I listed above play VERY well indeed and I'm very happy with the performance offered by the RP3+ and it obviously plays all the less demanding systems easily. Retroarch needs a little more knowledge to get things up and running should you want to use it but the end result is worth the time and effort. The device itself looks really nice and is comfy enough (possibly better with a grip....Google them). The screen looks gorgeous and battery life is good. Without a doubt the RP3+ is going to be one of favourite handhelds for retro gaming. Highly recommended if your happy adding your own emulators and ROMs. 👍
