GPD WIN MAX 2 2024

I was searching for a portable solution for music production at home and live on stage as my intel I5 8gb was not powerfull enough to handle large libraries and many tracks. Also gaming was not really possible.

But now (as expected) with this machine everything is blazing fast!! I installed WIN 11 Pro and added a 1TB of extra storage (2230 M.2 NVMe Gen 4 1 TB, 4750 MB/s) for prodution files and backup and now have 3TB of storage. You need a really small **** driver for that by the way. The included 2TB is not really fast. Only 3500 during a read speed test. This was already confirmed in several articles online. but a copy of a 6GB file took only a few seconds.

Today I used the 'laptop' the whole day and its a real eye opener between all those MAC and boring Dell and HP laptops :) I used it on public transport too and its so small you have enough room for typing and handling.

Cons: the trackpad is far away and its great it has a touch screen as an extra option not navigate. Pro: a great machine, I hope for a long time as I do not need the latest AAA games. Delivery was really fast and instructions for installation and downloads were clear.

Again, my advise. Do a clean install and check for latest BIOS and drivers.

Honestly the best handheld portable pc I’ve owned in a while. The sleek design (even tho it’s a bit chunky on the sides) is really easy to handle, powerful enough to open most of the things you need and with the gpd g1 egpu it is honestly a power house (if you can config the drivers right). Besides some heavy triple A games everything runs smooth and as advertised. The joystick and button config is comfortable enough and the touch screen helps even though mousepad is in an awkward place. I’d recommend this even if you have a pc or a gaming laptop. I just replaced my huge gaming pc with this because I travel a lot and I couldn’t be happier.

GPD WIN MAX 2 2023

I have previously spent ages looking for small yet powerful devices, and even made my own laptop with a desktop 1080 inside! I had been considering doing another build like this when I found the GPD Win Max 2 2023.i wanted something to replace my desktop and laptop, that could hook up to a gpu for high performance VR. This ticked all the boxes, and my only concern was using it for work with the game pad showing, until I saw it has covers! CPU performance is about the same for gaming as my desktop CPU was (10600k),but with faster ram, a faster SSD and the option to be portable or connect to my GPU this has become my everything device. There are a few tools to get used to on it/figure out, however this has been great in the office with additional monitors, great for gaming and all in such a tiny device. The keyboard is excellent to type on, the track pad is usable when really needed but I only really ever use/used a mouse so it's a nice to have backup. The gaming pad isn't as good as a normal controller, but is another nice to have. Cooling and performance is good, although using Ptm is seen as a good mod to do so I plan to do that at some point. This is expensive, but when you add up the cost of a motherboard, cpu, ram, cooler, screen, ssd, etc in a desktop this is not too bad for such a small device. If you use the vr app immersed then this is even better for a day in the office! Highly recommend to others, it has its quirks, but so far I have sorted or got around most of them, one I haven't though is that the keyboard reflects light too much, so if you have a light above you, you might not be able to see the letters on the keyboard too well. Had a faulty track pad on my first purchase but droix handled the exchange fast. Yes I was sad it had to go back but was confident I would get a perfect one as an exchange. It did come fairly fast after they had checked it over and confirmed the fault. Replacement had a keyboard issue where it will stop after it comes out of hibernation or when it's shut down and started up again. Same as another reviewer explained. Few back and forth and diagnosing, reinstalling windows twice etc droix customer service told me to downgrade the bios which I did and it fixed the issue..so thought I would install the latest bios update v0.38 from droix and glad to say it is running fine like it should and realised it runs waaay better and smoother than the v0. 36 which is buggy and laggy. Even on stuff like installing games etc. Droix customer service is excellent, respond fast and do all they can to help. Even reassure you a replacement is ready to be sent out if it can't be fixed(hardware issue). Win max 2 is built like the big boys... solid and premium!
